Sayeed Sajjad Razin

About

I am a Lecturer in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), where I am also completing my MSc in Biomedical Engineering (expected March 2027).

My MSc thesis, in the mHealth Research Group under Dr. Taufiq Hasan and co-supervised by Dr. Tauhidul Islam (Stanford University School of Medicine), develops a general method for building cartographic representations of gene expression from spatial transcriptomics. These representations support downstream tasks such as cell-type classification and unsupervised clustering.

More broadly, I work on machine learning for health data. This has included respiratory rate estimation from lung sounds, bone mineral density prediction from hip X-rays, lung nodule detection in chest CT, and qPCR data analysis for public health surveillance. I have also contributed to PyHealth, an open-source toolkit for clinical deep learning, with Prof. Jimeng Sun’s group at UIUC.

I received my BSc in Biomedical Engineering from BUET, graduating 2nd in a class of 33.
